Let's Get Started

Thank you for applying to adopt your next family mutt from Mostly Muttz Rescue. Please review the following information before proceeding to the application. All applicants must be 21 years old or older. The following requirements must be met in order to adopt from Mostly Muttz Rescue:

    • Applications with exceptions will be accepted on a case by case basis and at the discretion of Mostly Muttz Rescue.
    • If you have an exception to the above, please note it in the comment section of the application.

    • If you have an exception to the above, please note it in the comment section of the application.

If our volunteers call your vet reference(s) and the vet can not verify the above information, your application WILL NOT be processed any further and will be marked Inactive. Please make sure to list all applicable vet information as asked on the application, including current veterinary practice, any vet clinics you’ve used and/or specialty vet practices you have taken your pet(s) to.

To make the application process go more smoothly, after submitting your application, please call your vet(s) and allow them to release your records to us. Please also let your personal references that we will be calling. We will call your references and leave messages ONLY twice. If they do not get back to us, we will mark your application as Inactive and the process will go no further.

The entire application process, from first review to receiving your official approval email, takes an average of 10-14 days. Factors such as the time it take to get in touch with your vet and personal references as well as your and our volunteer’s ability to find a mutual time to schedule a home visit will influence the length of time it takes to complete our process. NOTE: All adults in the household are required to be present at the home visit and we request as many of your children as possible (if applicable) also be present. We understand kids schedules can be difficult, so please do your best to have them there during the home visit.

Once your home visit has been completed, you will receive a formal email from us notifying you of your approval or rejection. Please do not email us after your home visit. We will email you within 72 hours of the completion of your home visit.

Lastly, we often receive multiple applications for the same dog. When this happens, we choose the best home for the dog, not necessarily the first home that applied. If the dog you have applied for is adopted before your application is completely processed, you will be notified and will have two options: 1) You can continue the process for another dog, 2) We can stop the process and mark your application as Inactive.

IMPORTANT: Please respect that we are all volunteers. If at anytime during the process you adopt from another rescue or decide not to adopt, please email us and let us know. We will not be upset and will appreciate that you have let us know so we can focus on other applications.

We appreciate your interest in our muttz and look forward to helping you find the perfect fit for your family!
